As part of the Teaching for Tomorrow – Professional Learning Series, Southern Cross Institute (SCI) hosted an informative professional learning session on the Introduction to HEA Fellowship for SCI academic staff. The session was delivered online by Ms Fiona Whittenbury, Head of Partnerships (Australasia), Advance HE, on Friday, 6 March 2026. The session provided academic staff with an introduction to the Advance HE Fellowship framework, highlighting the value of professional recognition in higher education and its role in supporting reflective teaching practice, professional development and career progression. Participants gained an overview of the different Fellowship categories, eligibility requirements and the application process, along with guidance on reflecting on their existing teaching and learning practices and identifying relevant evidence to support a Fellowship application. The session provided SCI academic staff with a valuable opportunity to better understand the professional recognition pathways available to them and consider their own pathways towards achieving HEA Fellowship.
