Students from the Master of Information and Communications Technology (MICT) course at Southern Cross Institute (SCI) visited the NEXTDC S3 Sydney Data Centre in Artarmon on 24 September 2026. The visit provided students with first-hand exposure to a professionally operated, enterprise-grade data centre environment.

The industry site visit enabled students to connect their academic learning in networking, cloud computing, cybersecurity and IT infrastructure with a live commercial environment. Students gained valuable insights into how critical digital infrastructure is designed, secured, operated and maintained at scale. The visit also supported students in developing a deeper understanding of industry practices and potential career pathways in data centre operations, networking, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity and critical facilities engineering.

The site visit reflects SCI’s commitment to strengthening industry engagement and providing students with meaningful, industry-connected learning experiences that complement their academic studies.
