DESCRIPTION:Dr. Shakoor Ahmed\, Lecturer in Accounting at Southern Cross Institute (SCI)\, successfully presented research at the prestigious AFAANZ 2025 Annual Conference\, held at the Sofitel Brisbane Central\, Queensland\, from 6–8 July 2025.\nThe papers presented were:\n1. “Follow the Money: Modern Slavery Reporting Practices by Financial Services Entities” (co-authored with Professor Ellie Chapple and Dr. Katherine Christ)\n2. “Corporate Annual Filings and Distance to Default: Does Readability Matter?” (co-authored with Dr. Nurul Kabir and Dr. Sohanur Rahman)\n \nBoth presentations were well-received and sparked meaningful engagement from fellow academics and professionals. The conference served as an excellent platform for SCI to showcase its research strength and build visibility within the broader academic and industry communities.\n \nDr. Ahmed also connected with a diverse network of researchers\, educators\, standard-setters\, professional bodies\, publishers\, and industry leaders from around the world.
